Who Are Whitehead Plumbing & Gas? Whitehead Plumbing & Gas is a locally owned plumbing company based in Waltham, Christchurch. Established in 1975, we provide residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing, gasfitting, drain laying, heating, and solar hot water services across Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. We are members of Master Plumbers New Zealand.

Are Whitehead Plumbing & Gas Registered Master Plumbers? Yes. All work is carried out by registered and licenced plumbers, gasfitters, and drain layers. Whitehead Plumbing & Gas is a proud member of Master Plumbers New Zealand, which means we meet strict standards of workmanship, professionalism, and insurance.

Where Are You Based And What Areas Do You Service? We are based at 1D Grafton Street, Waltham, Christchurch. We service Christchurch city and the wider Canterbury region, including Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Amberley, Rolleston, Lincoln, Prebbleton, West Melton, Darfield, Leeston, Southbridge, Banks Peninsula, and surrounding areas.

How Long Has Whitehead Plumbing & Gas Been Operating? Whitehead Plumbing & Gas was established in 1975 and has been serving the Canterbury community for over 50 years. The business is currently owned and operated by Managing Director Paul Olsen and his wife Kareena, who took ownership in 2020.

What Plumbing Services Do You Offer? We offer a comprehensive range of plumbing services including hot water cylinder installation and repairs, bathroom and kitchen plumbing, pipe repairs and replacements, new builds and renovations, and general residential and commercial plumbing maintenance.

Do You Offer Gasfitting Services? Yes. Our licenced gasfitters handle natural gas and LPG installations, gas appliance connections, gas line repairs, and compliance certifications for both residential and commercial properties.

Do You Offer Drain Laying Services? Yes. We carry out residential and commercial drain installations, drainage repairs, and blockage clearing, all completed to New Zealand standards by our registered drain layers.

Do You Install Heating Systems? Yes. We supply and install central heating systems for Canterbury homes and businesses. We can also advise on the most suitable heating solution for your property.

Do You Install Solar Hot Water Systems? Yes. Whitehead Plumbing & Gas designs and installs solar hot water panels for residential and commercial properties. Solar hot water is an effective way to reduce energy costs and lower your carbon footprint. We also carry out servicing and maintenance of existing solar systems.

What Is Backflow Prevention And Do You Offer This Service? Backflow occurs when water flows in the wrong direction through your pipes, which can contaminate your drinking water supply. Whitehead Plumbing & Gas provides certified backflow testing and installs backflow prevention devices to protect your water supply and ensure compliance with local council requirements.

Do You Work On Both Residential And Commercial Properties? Yes. We work across domestic homes, commercial premises, and industrial sites – from minor repairs and maintenance through to full new-build plumbing installations.

Are You Authorised Service Agents For Any Hot Water Brands? Yes. Whitehead Plumbing & Gas are authorised service agents for Rheem, LeVivi, and Stiebel Eltron hot water systems.

Do You Offer Urgent Plumbing Services? Yes. Whitehead Plumbing & Gas provides urgent plumbing services during business hours for the Christchurch and Canterbury area. Please note we do not provide “emergency” call-out services after hours.

Do You Provide A Quote Before Starting Work? Yes. For planned or larger jobs we will discuss the scope of work with you and provide clear information on pricing before we begin. For urgent callouts where immediate action is required, we will keep you informed throughout.
